Satellites and drones for variable rate irrigation and fertilization

Efficient fertilization and irrigation are two main challenges for future crop production in Belgium, but also in other European areas with intensive horticultural production. VITO (Flemish institute for technological research) has done research to implement spectral data into farmers irrigation and fertilization practices in order to improve water and nitrogen use efficiency in crop production.
