X2nSat unveils fastest enterprise broadband with SES and Newtec

18 maart 2015 Persberichten No Comments

SES S.A. (NYSE Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) today announced X2nSat has doubled its Ku-band capacity aboard the SES-2 spacecraft to power its new generation ST4G™ broadband service, delivering higher speeds and the reliability of Ku-band satellite capacity across North America.

To offer connection speeds up to 15 megabits per second, X2nSat has tapped both the high-powered, reliable coverage of the SES-2 satellite and the Newtec broadband platform, including hubs and terminals. As a specialist in designing, developing and manufacturing equipment and technologies for satellite communications, Newtec is providing the ground infrastructure for X2nSat’s innovative, reliable and easy-to-install ST4G™ business enterprise platform.

X2nSat’s ST4G™ broadband solution serves as the primary business continuity platform for multiple industries, from businesses utilizing machine-to-machine and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) networks to mission-critical healthcare systems. For example, when hospitals on the X2nSat broadband platform lose terrestrial connectivity, their voice and data systems are automatically restored over satellite. This satellite connectivity is crucial, in light of new patient healthcare regulations, the increasing role successful digital data transmissions play in quality patient care, and the fact that many hospitals are initiating more than 200 simultaneous phone calls at any given time.

”We are pushing the enterprise envelope with a system designed and built for business, using leading-edge satellite capacity from SES,” said Garrett Hill, CEO of X2nSat. “Our service provides businesses with the network experience they have been accustomed to, with terrestrial capabilities such as MPLS and metro Ethernet fiber. By combining the high-powered Ku-band capacity aboard the SES-2 spacecraft with Newtec’s breakthrough ground segment solutions, X2nSat is now offering the fastest satellite-delivered broadband service for businesses in North America. Our ST4G solution delivers faster speeds than even the latest consumer Ka-band offerings – with the higher reliability of Ku-band.”

”SES continues to invest in the development of the world’s leading satellite fleet and technologies, and we’re innovating with cutting-edge solutions providers like X2nSat and Newtec to help connect virtually any application imaginable at the speed of business,” said Elias Zaccack, Senior Vice President of the Americas Region for SES.”Our engineering teams are working closely with X2nSat and Newtec to continue to usher in even faster speeds and technology advancements aimed at staying ahead of the connectivity demands of business to best serve next generation data requirements.”

”X2nSat’s latest ST4G offering marks an industry milestone, with the region’s fastest connectivity speeds offered over a Ku-band satellite. We are honored to be a part of this innovative solution and partnership,” said Serge Van Herck, CEO of Newtec. “Our platforms are flexible, efficient and scalable, and our solutions based on industry standards combined with other Newtec technologies are clear differentiators that deliver a competitive edge to X2nSat and its enterprise customers.”
