Newtec appoints industry veteran Kevin McCarthy as VP of Market Development

16 maart 2015 Persberichten No Comments

Newtec, a specialist in designing, developing and manufacturing equipment and technologies for satellite communications, today announced it has appointed Kevin McCarthy, a veteran of the maritime satellite communications industry, to the position of VP of Market Development.

The addition of McCarthy to the Newtec management team is part of the company’s strategic initiative to strengthen its capabilities in various mobility verticals, including maritime, oil & gas, and aviation.

Prior to joining Newtec, McCarthy spent 15 years at MTN Satellite Communications, a leading provider of satellite communications to the cruise, oil and gas, super yacht, aviation and military markets. While there, he held various roles, including Sr. VP of Network Engineering and, most recently, Chief Operations Officer. McCarthy began his career at Norwegian Cruise Line as a network engineer.

Newtec’s CEO Serge Van Herck said: “Kevin has been a Newtec customer for several years and understands the mobility market extremely well. With his background as a service provider, he will bring a fresh perspective to the company.”

Thomas Van Den Driessche, Newtec’s Chief Commercial Officer, further explained: “During our search for talented leadership, Kevin exceeded our expectations on insights into synergies of technologies, markets and satellite based operations. Although his primary focus initially will be maritime, oil & gas and mobility, he will play an instrumental role in shaping Newtec Dialog® platform technologies into business tools to ensure the highest performance and flexibility for service providers and customers on all verticals.”

The developing multiservice ecosystem will add to Newtec’s growth, with the Newtec Dialog multiservice platform allowing service providers and broadcasters to build and adapt their network easily as their business grows and the market changes.

“The Newtec Dialog platform, equipped with the latest transmission standard, DVB-S2X, and Newtec’s patented return link technology Mx-DMA™, is one of the most advanced products on the market today,” said McCarthy. “Its core design principals of scalability, flexibility and efficiency make it a catalyst for growth and it is exciting to be joining the Newtec team at such a pivotal time in the satellite industry.”

McCarthy will be based in Florida, U.S. and report to Thomas Van Den Driessche. He joins the around 300 team members Newtec employs worldwide.
